Monsterbaby, I think most of the comments here were good natured.

Here's my theory:

1. CO2 is a greenhouse gas.
2. Plants need CO2 to grow.
3. Plants dont like freezing.
4. I dont like freezing.
5. More CO2 = more plants.
6. Plants reduce CO2.

It balances itself out! I say, bring it on! Less snow for me to shovel!

yeah rusty your right it has been pretty good natured so I guess all is good. So then let me add my .02 cents. around 1100 AD england had a climate that was roughly the equivilant to so. cal., so if we are having global warming then why is the climate in England now the equivilant to say northern washington?
the reason is mount hekla erupted putting the earth into a "nuclear winter" type of situations for several centuries that hasn't totally corrected itself to this day.

MB, I tried to keep it light, and you have to admit to my credit, I did okay. I suppose that I am the type o' guy who will argue anything when the underdawg. Or at least attempt to illustrate a more overall objective point of view for all to read. When the popular vote goes one way, I will tend to defend the lesser end. Just my nature I guess. Sorry if my stands brought your thread toward the brink of vaporization. I guess I just can't help myself.
All is good, Tim

olford, it's actually all good, I guess I can totally understand what you mean I tend to get into a few aurguments on here myself, and enjoy them as it is. The last enviromental thread that I was on that got locked someone in admin thought it was too contriversioul or something, but the funny thing was the person I was aurguing with was emailing me so we could discuss what to aurgue about next and see how many people would read the thread. It ended up with over 10,000 views and was a lot of fun and since we made each other actually back up our positions I actually learned a lot having to do the research to back up my opinion.

It ain't warm. I need a wood stove....

I used to not care about weather, I wonder what happened. Guess I got old.

Then again - if it was full summer, I'd thankful for the cold...

Just last night on TV the weather channel did an hour on the changing weather in Alaska. The dissapearing Shishmarif Island, the north slope ice getting so thin they cant haul a whale up on it, and the reasons for all that is Global Warming.

Plant more trees. Forget the big lawns, plant more hard wood trees. Trees are the Earth's Lungs.

But they stopped short of saying exacty why the Green house gasses are being so mean to us right now.
They saw in the Analyized ICE that it's happend before, and they know we are teetering on the edge of: Either an Ice age, or a Solar burn out!

Now there's a couple of nice thoughts (sarcasm). Sounds to me that I may not get my beach front property after all. I'll have ta watch for the old weather channel re-runs.

There is more forest land in the US right now than when we signed the Declaration of Independence! Any liberals out there, look for another reason!

Lawnwpecialties, I am glad that you used the term "liberals" instead of environmentalist. It seems that the term environmentalist seems to have become a bad word due to extreme liberal bark squeezing environmentalist groups. There are alot of folks throughout the Northwest who are involved in timber management and harvesting who consider themselves as environmentalists. They are loggers and timber management planners who harvest product, but do so where it is sustainable for generations to come. Just thought I'd get that one out there. There is nothing wrong with taking care of our world, and most conservatives would agree. That is another myth that liberals would like to spout off about, insinuating that just because you have conservative views, you must be anti-environmentalist. That is total BS.

I fancy myself as a true American, representative of MOST Americans. Most Americans are open minded and politically somewhere in the middle of the road. Maybe leaning one way or the other but not completely exteme either way. Personally, I lean more to the "right". However I am conscious of our environment and wish to be responsible with it. There is nothing wrong with that.

Before you assume that I am arguing against your last post, think again, I am pro-logging. I do have a clear understanding of forest management, as I have in the past worked in this field for quite some time. I have been educated in this field. There are right ways and wrong ways. If we decide to leave it alone and quit logging, we had better quit putting out the natural fires and let nature thin it out. One way or another it's gotta get done. Might as well build homes with it. But do it right, using natural science. Ignorance is our biggest ememy.
