Mercon 5
I have heard recently that Mercon 5 is not recommended for E4ODs'. I have that in my tranny, complete flush last summer. Anyone recommend anything but expensive synthetic? I also added a large oil cooler to the front of the radiator at the same time.

it is a GP II/III base which is then friction modfied. the friction modifiers are whats bad for the trannies not made for mercon v. the entire tranny needs to be flushed to get rid of the mercon v.
