Balancer Removal

I'm having a fun time trying to remove my balancer bolt.

Even put my impact to it. Hasn't come loose.

I am trying to do the front main and timing cover gasket.

I checked if it was lefthand threads just to be sure.

All the other Ford dampners i have removed the bolt came off alot easier.

Am i missing something?

the bolt is probably rusted in, or someone used the bolt to install the balancer.

If its rusted soak in with PB blaster and use a big breaker bar and hit it with a 3lb hammer.

if someone used the bolt to install the balancer, the threads are probably damaged and its time for a crank kit

Well consitering the engine is all original, down to the gaskets before i got it, and the amount of dirt and crap, and how the bolt doesn't look damaged, i am hoping it is rusted.

Would a bigger impact, and some PB blaster work better or should i borrow my buddies 1" Drive Socket set?

a better/stronger impact would probably do it.

My cheap harbor freight 500ftlb impact takes them off, but the 250ftlb one it replaced wouldn't.

The 1" socket set wouldn't hurt I've had to get out my 3/4" set a lot on these trucks.

I used to hear about a trick. You put a wrench on the head with the wrench braced against something firm. Pull the coil wire so it won't start, just tap the starter.
All u gotta do is figure out the direction of rotation.

Mine came off using a 1/2" breaker bar and a pipe.

Ya i was thinking about the starter, but figure it'd be less of a pain to do it right, then to break a ring gear or starter.

I'll try the 1" drive set today probally. I just thing my Impact doesn't have enough torque i think it is like 295ftlbs, and i can't grab hold of the balancer to stop it from moving. So i put it in 4th and caulkled the wheels, and i moved the truck i put so much force on my 15/16" wrench. Only if the parking brake cable didn't snap.

Well i'll see how it turns out.

thanks
