all the aftermarket tachs come with the instructions. there is only 4 wires to hookup.

Jeez - That's a pretty good deal - so ya bought a tach and the guy threw in a truck along with it??? WOW!! (BFG's - just messin') Should be a four wire set up as Mr. ford390gashog stated. Without a specific wiring color code it's a matter of guess work as to which wire does what. NORMALLY, and this is not necessarily what you have, a grn. wire is used for the tach wire off of the coil. The red wire is normally your 12v power with key on/engine running. The white wire should be for lights (although I have seen blue, yellow or others) and the blk. wire is the ground (again, I have seen other colors used for the grnd wire). As you don't have the instruction guide I would suggest that you do an internet search for the manufacturer and see if they offer wiring diagrams for installation. Otherwise, my friend, you are just guessing as which wire goes where. I suppose if you wire it up backwards or something you could conceivably wreck it so I would suggest you research the mfg'r.

Good Luck!

Mike
