Dang power windows!!!!!!!!!!
Alright gents ive got a 87 e150 conversion van that im working on.My problem is that the power windows are no good.Right now im just trying to get them up so the cats and other kritters cant get in while in the resteration process.
I was able to get the passenger side up and supported by a peice of wood. The part that is driving me nuts is that the driver's side window motor is froze and i cant get it to move.
How in the world am i supposed to get to that motor short of slicing the door open? My hands and arms are to big to fit thru the small opening.
Is there a way of disconecting the window from the lift mecanissem?
Glad my 81 E100 van does not have them. Have a 79 Cordoba with powerwindows and the driver's side does not work....something to do with a plastic piece that broke. So all I can do is pull it up by hand to keep animals out. My son also has a 79 Cordoba but no power windows.....lucky dog.
There are like 3 screws holding the motor in. If you have the holes exposed then you should be able to see them. The motor's gear meshes with a sector gear (like a 1/4th of a ring gear) and it will fall away from it when you remove the bolts. You gotta be careful because once you release the motor the glass drops a bit if I recall correctly. The motor is withdrawn through the hole, it is a bit of a trick though hardly rocket science.
I just put in a rebuilt motor, I didn't take it apart. I think taking the motor itself apart requires drilling out the rivets which is probably what was being referred to.
Well once i get this one little part fixed i can move on to the resteration of this van.Now that i have some free time the famliy and i are going to use this van for vacations and traviling.
Its funny that ive been all over the world but ive barly got to see my own country that well.I say when this van is dun its time.
