I have a predator that I want to check to see if it needs to be updated. There are 2 problems. First I need to know what part# mine is before I get any updates. I know that it is either a U7160 or a U7165. I can't seem to find the box that it came in and I don't see a part # stamped on it anywhere. It is a stransparent green if that helps and the software version is v.7r76. I also can't seem to get the DAT viewer to recognize that the predator is connected and I need help setting it up. I have only done this one time and that was when I uploaded a recording onto the DAT viewer and that was almost a year ago. Please help as I want to install the power tune back to the truck but I don't want to have to do this twice if there is an update available. The truck is a 2003 F-350 dually King Ranch with a 6.0 powerstroke.
I believe the truck was built in March.
Dani, you have the newer model Predator turner, the update you need is "power_6_0-7r84_H512". Just go to www.diablosport.com, and go to downloads, fill in the question boxes and download the file. Don't forget to put you tune back to stock, before updating your programer. You will have to look closely for the download as it is not easy to find, at least for me.

Reason: too short
I have the truck set for stock right now. Does it matter which part# I pick from. THere are 2 part numbers. Is it un165. I figured that is the newer one.
Also, do you know what I need to do inorder for me to get the computer to see the predator attached?
Thanks again
You have the U7160, not the U7165. r76 is the U7160, and that's what's on your invoice as well. If you're not having difficulty with your tunes I don't recommend updaging the unit. Most changes are for fixes with certain calibration codes.
The download page, once you've selected your Predator model and vehicle information, will have instructions for getting it to communicate with your truck.
The instructions don't help when the software doesn't communicate with the predator. All of the settings are set per the instrucions. I have the baud rate set for 57600 on the predator and the computer com1 port. So I can't update the predator. Also there is a sticker on the back of the predator that says "2005 6.0".
"I have only done this one time and that was when I uploaded a recording onto the DAT viewer and that was almost a year ago."
Okay... let's narrow this down. What has changed on your computer's setting since that time, or what are you doing differently now? Are you powering up the Predator last, after the cable is plugged in? Powering it up is always the last step in the process.
What I ended up doing is transferring the software over to my mom's computer and hooked it up to her serial port. ALthough it still wouldn't recognize it when it told me to cycle the power to the predator. What I decided to do was hook up the serial port connector and then the power and when the program asked for my to cycle the power I unplugged and replugged the power to the predator within 2 seconds and then it say the predator and began downloading the update. So I guess I will have to remember that the next time I do this but thanks for the help and hope that this helps anybody else with the same problems.

P.S. After updating the predator and installing the 100 HP tune I noticed that the power doesn't come on at once but rather gradually. I like that better because before when you would give it fuel, it wouldn't do much until you got part way down and then it would let loose. I like the fact now that you can regulate the power as you transition from part throttle to full throttle.
