After reading all the posts on the site I have come to the conclusion that the superchips programmer seems to be everyones favorite. The only question I have is in several posts I have read that the newer 04-05 models have better gains than my 03 (F350 5.4). Aside from better shifting exactly how much better performance can I expect to get from reprogramming my pcm with the superchips setup? I rarely tow anything larger than my motorcycle. I am just looking for a little more power (are'nt we all?) and will a cold air intake improve this upgrade or does it not make a difference?
Personally Ive added Hypertech tuner, K&N airbox, throttle body spacer, and a new cd player to my old 2001 f250 with the 5.4L. The only thing I noticed was the stereo sounded great, and I had a bunch on new shiny things under the hood. The funny thing is I can sell you all those things, but you wouldnt be happy. Except for the stereo.
Go with a custom tuned SCT tuner for this truck, it will make difference. Not huge because of the power to weight ratio, but you should see it. Bang for the buck the SCT will give that truck the most power.
03FX4350, just to be clear, what Webmaster is talking about is NOT a SuperChips tuner. A SCT tuner is a totally seperate company. The website for SCT is www.SCTflash.com, the website for the SuperChips tuner is www.superchips.com
Not the same. Are ya pickin up what Im puttin down? That confused me when I first heard guys talk about SCT, I thought they were just using a shorter name for a Superchips...lol!
Let me correct myself. There are many different tuners. I owned a Hypertech. Not Impressed...I now have a SCT like Fordtrkpuller states and me like very much. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut being it was almost 1 am LOL
The latest tuner out for the 04-05 is the EDGE turner. Works well for me and has a display for all engine monitoring. 3 levels of tuning, and the usual ability for adjusting for gear and tire changes as well as rpm and top speed.
I think its great how they added the tire size feature into most tuners. I remember my old truck had 35's on it and that stunk to guestimate your speed. We have the superlifts module that does that alone if your not running a tuner aswell. Im glad you like your tuner. Its always dissapointing to here bad things about them. In this day of modern tech. you would think they could make everything perfect....like the weather would be nice.
Thanks for all the replies to my questions. I got all the answers I was looking for. Going to check out the SCT website now and see what they have to offer thanks again!
