Hello! I just bought a 92 F150. I noticed that the cylinder where you insert the key is loose. It will just turn in circles when the key is not present. This makes it very difficult to line up the key when you want to start the truck. Does this have to be replaced, or is there a way to tighten it?
I have the same problem with my Aerostar. Seems like the "flange" where you insert the key broke from the assembly, however, it has been like that for over 2 years. You can get a new one at your local parts house for about $15 to $20, and they take about a minute or two to replace.
Yep, another key for the key ring. Under the steering wheel column, you will see a small hole under the ignition cylinder. Turn your key to on, put a small allen wrench or drill bit into the hole, push a spring loaded pin and pull out the ignition switch. Install the new switch in reverse. Pretty easy.
