I was just searching ebay for soem head units and came accross the same head unit I have in my ranger. Mine is a cassette with single cd. Although it only says MP3 on the front. The one I saw on ebay said Pioneer on the bottom. Is mine made by pioneer? Who makes it?? Thanks!
There is the factory standard am.fm cd cassette that is made by ford, and then there is the Ford Ranger Tremor which came with a silver Pioneer am/fm cd casette in dash and also a amplifier and 10 inch sub.
There was also the option of a 290 watt pioneer head unit that looks like all the other head units but it was wired to a 6" woofer that was in a full length console but was available only with the auto tranny. In my opinion if you want to replace the head unit I would go with an aftermarket unit anyway. Factory units usually arent that great anyway.
I put in a Sony xplod with an integrated 10 disc mp3 changer and hooked up a 350 watt kenwood amp and a 12inch sub in a sealed box. I also added Sirius satelite radio about 6 months ago. I havent changed the factory speakers out yet cause i had all the bass going to the sub and the stereo i have really puts out a lot of high to the factory speakers. I think they are starting to go finally after 4 years and 60k. I'm going to put in 4 Pioneer 4 way 6x8's my truck will really rock then.
Yeah I got rid of my first aftermarket H/U (actually it was stolen...) so I picked up a Clarion DXZ-555MP (I think that's what it's called...something like that).
Pioneer 6"x8"s all around, back two were amped. Now I'm pulling the amp out, pulling the rear two Pioneers out, and putting two 6"x9"s for the bass in the back since I have a regular cab.
I'm running a Eclipse 55060 H/U with 8v preamp output and a Eclipse EQ with Monster XLN RCA cables going back to a Kole Audio 90X4 and Rockford Fosgate 200X2. I have 2 12" Boston Acoustic 12.5 LF 2 Ohm subs and 4 PowerBass 5X7s in the doors. I also have 2 Alpine tweeters that I havent mounted yet and I have a Sirius Streamer GT tuner.
If you're looking for bass in a single cab ranger, all you have to do is talk to me!! I have two 12s stuffed behind my seats. Look at my signature is you want to see what I have. I'm the loudest single cab ranger in town.
hey I know this for a fact the 04 edge has a ford factory system guess what.....made by the pioneer corporation (it is in my one hand right now) it says made in mexico i have apanasonic head unit in right now but i am upgrading once again to an alpine 9000 series (released next month) i am also upgrading the speakers i am going with 6x9 type s alpines all around and finally i am going with a new sub box out this year it is the plt-5 box by alpine.......... so much for all that pioneer stuff that came factory equipped
alpine 9000 series?? I HAD a 9855 i think it was with glidetouch. That was an excellent system, although it never worked right. What is new with the 9k? thanks!
ain't that somethin cool i am going to be getting the cda9857 which looks like it is replacing the 9855 series the 9857 series has the quick connect for the ipods from the way the dealer stated and the website shows it will be able to access the ipod instantly.... it also has minor changes in appearnce to the 9855 model not very sure what else is different but this unit is a much better unit than my current panasonic unit
Takes a bit of getting used to, but once you are comfortable with it, the glidetouchi s quite an impressive feature. I am sure you will enjoy the 9857....I sure do miss my '55
Oh no. I should have been more specific, i'm sorry. I had that in my '03 ranger before i traded it I would not have returned it, but when i played cd's it would play 10 seconds and stop. Very weird. I may get the 9975 (i think that's the #) although i am a bit leary of it not working properly....
