Ok, I have 2 questions peraining my 83 F250 351W 2wd 4sp granny. First what kind of opinions do you guys have on the variable venture? The other question is which transmission do I have, i noticed this mornign when we put a clutch in it that it is a borg warner unit, but which one? Like model # or whatever it is. THanks.

The Variable Venturi carb is, in a word, junk. It was Ford's last-ditch attempt to make an efficient low-emmissions carb before they bit the bullet and went to fuel injection. They are finicky and overly complicated, and I wouldn't have one on anything that I own.
Other than that, it's a fine carb....!
Trans is probably a T-18 or T-19. Go here for more info.
