I've replaced the starter in my 77' f150 351m truck 3xs. I understand that the re-mfg starters could be bad, but 3 of them? When I first start my truck...no problem, but when I get to my destination and go to restart it, it cranks slow. I've replaced the battery, solinoid and all three battery cables, Could the problem be the ignition? I've got to get this problem fixed! Thanks Ellen.

Maybe the timing is too far advanced. This will give problems like you have on hot engine starts.
That sounds like timing to me too, as my truck did the same thing.Every time I'd go somewhere, I had to wait til it cooled down before I could restart it to get home.By the way, it is possible to get three bad starters in a row,as well as any other reman. part.Been there ,done that!!
Hi, My problem started last June. That starter was a re-mfg about 10 years old. So I blamed it on the starter. I replaced the starter with a re-mfg from Advanced Auto, I also had a 5 month old Interstate battery so I replaced the original battery cables(3) and put on a new solinoid. Started right up, drove a couple miles, shut it down for 15mins,went to restart it and it cranked slow. Drove afew more miles, shut it down for 15 mins, cranked even slower, went to Advanced Auto to replace this starter(nailed for the core) put it in, had same problems, returned it, went to Auto Zone for #3, same problems. Went to local mechanic to check timing,Of course it started right up when he was turning the key, he asked if it pings? It doesn't ,runs great once its started. He didn't feel it was the timing but the starter was bad, I can't believe that 3 starters would all have the same problem, But I'm going to have a timing light put to it Monday to be sure. This is becoming very expensive to replace these starters, I feel its got to be something else?? Thanks Ellen
Hi, why didn't you fix the timing instead of having to wait for it to cool down.(just wondering) I like to have my problems fixed, My truck has run excellent for 23 yrs, I'd like it to run like that again. thanks ellen
