Stainless headers

I just got my New JBA Cat 4ward hearders for my 02 roush.I am impressed with the header itself but not with it's none polished appearence,Has anyone painted stainless if so what did you use? I am used to the old style headers where you sandblast them wipe them down with a good solvent or gun wash then use hiheat header paint or barbeque hi heat paint.Any infoe would be great. Thanks Rick

You really won't be able to see them on the truck. I personally would bother with painting them. They won't rust anyway.
I don't know of the proper way to prep stainless for high temp painting.

stainless dont paint very well. you ar probalby thinking of a 304-316 type stainless that is bright and shinny- lots of nickel in it. I dont know , but the new "stainless" headers appear to be made of some type 400 series staiinless. this stainless does not "rust" like steel, but it is a far cry from pretty. usually shows surface tarnish, some "red" crud on it and other imperfections, but will not "rust".

Hey berto,I have not had the time to install them yet, been busy with life in general, wife, kids, home repaires etc. etc. The reason Iwent with JBA shorty headers is I am updateing my truck to the optional level that Roush Industries Did back in 2002.My truck is a 2002 F150 e/c shortbox Jack Roush stage 2 edition.Roush had an option back then of a vortech blower. So I am slowly getting parts in order to do the update. My truck already has the Roush cat back exhaust and it has a sound of a newer mustang GT and just a bit louder but not offencive. When I have them installed I am sure they are going to make the engine breathe easier.I will let you know how much difference they make. Regards Rick
