Backup Lights

the Backup lights on my truck come on when I turn on the headlights (low beam) but go off on high beam. I don't have any light bulbs out and turn signals work ok. They work properly except when the low beam head lights are on.
any suggestions?

Some more info. The low beam headlights come on when I place the truck in reverse.

Sounds like a bad ground.

When the low beams come on in reverse, are they full-brightness or slightly dim?

They are full brightness for low beam.

Do you have any modification's like add on back up lights, fog lights, etc?

The only mod is I added a trailer brake controler using the wiring harness provided by ford. I added this 6 months ago with no problems until last week.
