77 F150-Fluid everywhere!

Ok guys, the situation is my transfer case is leaking out the rear seal by the double u-joints on the final drive. Actually, there is oil everywhere down there (rear end, transfer case, leaking valve cover gaskets, etc...) I don't know what the number of the t-case is but I am sure it is stock (judging by the amount of gunk on it). The truck is a 77 150 with a 351M and a granny 4. I think the rear end is 4.10, but not sure. I used to get vibrations pretty bad coasting downhill at 50mph, until I changed the rear u-joint. Never done that before and all went smooth, so now that the confidence is up, I want to tackle the double u-joints and that seal in the t-case. When I turn the drive shaft by hand there is some play back and forth, and I can move the yoke out of the t-case up and down about 3/16th". I am sure it is not supposed to do that. Question; How difficult is it to replace that seal? There seems to be bolts all around the thing, so do I just take the thing off or what? Also, I bought my u-joint at checkers and they first gave me the "high performance u-joint" at $20 which didn't fit. I went back and got the regular one for $10, which worked/works fine. Do I need special joints up front? or are they the same?
Let me know and thanks.
Ricker
p.s. this site is awesome. Truck sat for long time after being abused, but I will bring it back! 8mpg sucks though.
