When I was in college I had a 79' Dodge Adventurer that was an ok truck. Boy that old 318 had seen better days I'm sure, leaked a quart of oil roughly once a month. No A/C, radio died long time ago, body was rusted in 46 different places, and many other things were slowly going wrong. Truck only had about 180,000 miles.
As for my 95 F150 300-6 man o man does my heart throb every time I take a look at her!! WOOOO! This truck just don't stop no matter what the project is. Since I installed 4.10s in the back of this truck, it will climb a wall if I want it to.
Its funny every once in a while I'll get some kid and his little rice burnin four banger will pull up beside me and want to race. So far 8 out of 10 races I've blown their doors off by a truck length, 1st race I didn't really want to race (confidence) and the 5th one, a cop was sitting right behind us. Needless to say the poor little nut got busted for drag racing. These races or increasing in frequency so I may have earned a reputation. Why I don't know. I do believe I need to start blowing them off. My truck's not for racing, however if they want to go bumper to bumper I'm sure I'll have me some fun!
I'm sure after I install my Comp Cams camshaft and install a set of 19#/hr injectors on my already well massage 6, she'll really start crankin horsies!
The reason i like ford's is because other than my last name (Ford) being from the man that started it all Henery Ford. I like them cuz they are tough as nails, i've hit trees in my old 76 and never did hurt it other than a few dents, had to shove my best bud out of a ditch with her *Chubby Silverado* What a chump! I tried to convert the boy but.. thats a different story. They are the most dependable trucks, mine leaks oil like a sieve and she still goes, and pushes the 80mph limit all the time and never misses a beat!

Reliability and durability. The Ford powertrains are next to none. Even Ford's often maligned "stop-gap" smog motors, the 351M/400 are fine engines. I have a 351M with 279,500 miles that has never been rebuilt. GM's main line engines have trouble with that, much less some stop gap measure.
In the oilfield industry, the truck of choice for work is a Ford, due to the adverse and hard conditions that exist there.
By the way, how could the General let a decidedly poor engineering design like side saddle fuel tanks continue for 14 years? Stupidity and laziness come to mind.
I grew up with an Uncle who was a Ford dealer(from 1955 to 1998) so that started me out on the right foot. (I was born in '52) Being around all those new Fords while being a youngster is probably as bad as dope is to dope addicts. I can still remember that new car smell back in the '60s ( they don't smell the same now) And coming home from school to find a new Thunderbird or Mustang or who knows what in the driveway when they would come to visit. That is what hooked me so when it came time for me to start drivin' what did I drive? The old man had a "second car" and I got to drive it. It was a 1960 Chevy 6cyl 2speed auto, piece of S--t. Beggars can't be choosy so I drove it till I could afford to buy my first car. That Chev and the car I bought after it is what firmly planted me in the Ford Fastlane. The car after it was a '62 Thunderbird convertible( in 1971 they weren't worth much,I gave $375 for it), followed by a '70 Mustang 428 Cobra Jet 4spd. and 30 years later I'm still a Fordaholic. I have switched to trucks because except for the Mustang (we have a '95) and the Crown Vic (I'm not that old yet) Ford trucks are the only Fords I (me personally, my opinion, not trying to influence anyone or cause controversy) like.
So, in closing. Fords, the longest lasting, touughest, best selling trucks on the road.

The Old Man was a Ford Man. I grew up with LTD's or F-Series trucks almost as part of the family. There was always a blue oval or two in the driveway. The rivalry between "Ford men" and "Chev men" is mostly good natured, I have a good friend who has owned nothing but Chevys and he swears by 'em. I also think the 300 inline-six is one of the most durable engines ever built. We had one in a F-150 with 460,000 kms on it when it was destroyed in a car wreck. My personal trucks to date have been a 1979 Ranger XLT (302), 1984 Bronco XLT (351w), 1992 Flareside XLT (302). I have been very happy with all three.
Hope you enjoy your new truck.
like most of these other ppl, i have grown up w/fords and known too many ppl that had chevy's to have tons of problems with them. and i know a guy who runs a junkyard that says when he gets a 68-79 ford truck in ( he very rarely gets older ones in) if it runs, even barely, or if it is in halfway decent shape, it's usually gone in less than a week, that just show's u who's better.

i would rather push a ford than drive a chevy.
Hey guys, I've had and have both Chevy and Ford. They both have their problems but if any one of you can tell me why you prefer Ford over Chevrolet please get you check book out and buy mine. I assure you it is for sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a little kid, I remember the old '76 F-150 with a 360. We did things daily with that truck that you couldn't do once with a Chevy. Due to a gross lack of money, we had to sell it in '89. It had 700000 on it at the time. My uncle owns it now. It's still running and is now approaching the million mark.
I own an '82 F-150 right now. I got it real cheap from a friend who couldn't afford the gas. He's wrecked it repeatedly, but other than cosmetic damage, the truck has no real problems.
Now, the other side of the coin.
We once had an '80 Malibu Wagon with a 305. It never ran quite right, doggy as hell, and overheated horribly. It went up in flames one day while coasting down a street at 35 mph.
We once had an '89 Grand Am. It would be quicker to list what DID work on it rather than what did not. Lost the engine on it at 120000.
From my experience, Ford is just a superior vehicle. If I had the money, I'd never own anything else!
I inherited an escort, I called it every name you could think off. Said NO fords. then I went to buy my first vehicle at 19 years of age. Looked at everything, I mean EVERYTHING from Toyota up to a Hummer (lord knows I couldn't afford it though). Then by chance I drove my friends 87 bronco back from Windsor after getting stuck as the DD. 8" of snow and NO problems. Considering it took me all day to get my car out of my EX fiance's subdivision and back onto a major street this impressed the hell out of me. Chance was on the side of the truck and me. He sold me the truck 2 days later for $1,800. I got to drive the truck 2 times in the first month, because my EX had her car in the shop, and I didn't want her trying to drive my escort around her area. I got the truck back on a sunday night, and tuesday night threw a rod and that was that. I sold that truck for scrap and got $1750 back on it. Left dissapointed and without my truck, I looked all over the area for another used Bronco. I found the big red beast a week later. I'm very happy with it.
God it pisses my parents off, they're diehard Chrysler fans. The kept trying to find me a jeep or ram charger. Not that those are bad vehicles, but the Ford was just that much better.
