hi, bought a 1951 F1. believe it was originally owned by U.S. Air Force.
Can't find a VIN number. frustrated, where to look? Is it possible it was removed on purpose? Any help appreciated. have several years of rebuilding ahead. Would like to get clear title.
Most obvious place is on a plate attached to the inside of the glove box but some are also stamped on the frame rail and some on the crossmember under the radiator. I could never find a number on my frame rail but there was one on the front crossmember.
Welcome aboard and good luck with your project....
I have my VIn number on the door of my glove box on the inside
and then while I was painting my frame on the passenger side inside the firewall and ahead of the battery box I saw a number and sure enough it matched my number on my glove box, It was on the top of the rail. My pickup is a 50 F-1
so if you find it I would be curious as to where it was at onyour 51?
I believe the 51/52's had a VIN plate on the fiewall like the 48-50's. Also a VIN plate on the glovebox door and stamped on the passenger side frame rail.

FordPU's,
If you get a chance, please take a look at the stick thread at the top of the forum 49/50 VIN # cut-off. We are collecting information on these beyond the cut off to include date on column vs. floor shifts, raised panel vs. flat panel side on the pick-up boxes, etc. Would love to have your info if you would like to participate.
My '48 F-5 Was built April 28, '48, Sommerville, Ma.
The VIN on mine is stamped on the DRIVERS side frame rail in the middle between the fire wall and the radiator. In plain view (after cleaning the frame)
