351M/400 pulleys

I am building a 79 F150 4X4 Custom as a Show/Sunday truck, i have searched for weeks trying to find engine dress up parts, mainly aluminum or billet pulleys, brackets and that sort of thing. I have talked to every local performace shop i can find, searched the internet and this forum and no one seems to have any info. does anyone know where to find these type of parts? Please Help

A company called March performance has the parts you are asking about, they're nice but a little pricey.

I have March Serpentine Pulleys on my 400. I bought a set of Pulleys made for a 351W, and had a custom Billet alternator bracket made. The PS pump bracket was OK, I had that Chrome Plated. I removed the AC compressor and the ugly mounting bracket.

I haven't checked lately, but maybe March has more to offer for 335 series motors now.

I just checked and downloaded the March catalog. They dont have anything specifically for the 351M/400.

These pulleys will fit a 351C/351M/400. They are Serpentine conversion pulleys. They are made for two serpentine belts. You will also need a Serp pulley for your PS pump. The stock PS pump bracket will work, but the alternator needs a custom made bracket. It has to be relocated.
March now makes brackets for a 351C, but they will not work on a 351M/400 block.

I have emailed March Performance on several occasions and I am waiting again for a response. I have a post on Project Bronco asking how many people would support a petition, if you will, to supoort the developement of pulleys and brackets for the 351M/400 engine. I too, have invested alot into my motor and would like to have accessories that show it off. I have asked that Project Bronco support this effort much like they did to get Edelbrock to develope Heads for the 351C which can also be used for our engines. I would also like to know if the Ford Truck Enthusist website might be able to support this effort as well? The 335 series engines are making a huge leap in aftermarket products and they deserve to have more parts to make them look better! If anyone has any more ideas on how to petition March Performance or another company to produce these items, I'd would like to hear and support it as much as possible. Thanks!

march has v belt and serpentine belt kits for this engine(check in JEGS catalog)also if you know what you need there are lots of performance parts for the 400(I know this because I just finished mine and the only things I used was block & crank) read sites like this one and others, you'll get lots of useful info(ie:where to get parts & what combos work)also there are some aftermarket heads for this engine, but they AIN"T cheap.really thats the only thing that prohibits what you can do with this engine is how much cash you have(HORSEPOWER AIN'T CHEAP)

I've also been looking for a serpentine conversion kit for the 351M/400 - 4 pieces minimum - for the crank, alternator, water pump and power steering - turn key/bolt on, but no such kit is in the JEGS catalog, at Summit Racing or directly from March or anywhere else. Please correct me if I'm wrong and make my day.

I agree, I have NEVER seen anything from March that is specifically for the 351M/400. If a few people have made due with a few odd pieces that work, then I praise them. I am looking for billet brackets and pulleys made just for the 351M/400. There has been enough support to petition companies like Edelbrock to make heads and so on. What I am hoping for is to get enough support to get March to make pulleys and brackets for our engines. I recommend calling them @ 1-888-729-9070 or email them and telling them how much you would want to have these items. I hope that with alot of support from the great people of this site and others, that we can get them to make these for us.

I'm just sitting here looking at my AUG-SEPT 05 jegs book in the March pulley section,it says "custom v-belt to serpentine complete pulley and bracket assembly" Ford 302-351W and C standard rotation pump, jegs part #655-1670 performance ratio kit-185.99,incidentally,if it fits a "C",it will fit an M or 400,they're both from 335 series engine family............

If it fits a 'C' it doesn't necessarily fit a 351M/400. The pulleys will fit, but the brackets will not fit in all cases. The 351M/400 blocks are taller than the 351C, so if the 351C brackets mount to the heads and block, they will not work on a 351M/400, because the distance between the heads and block mounting holes is longer in the 351M/400, than it is in the 351C. Therefore the brackets must be longer.

I'm not going to argue, but just one more thing on this subject and I'll hush,if that was so when you put 351C heads on a 400 it would relocate your alternator, but I did this and mine's in the same place it always was.Maybe I'm missing something?

351C heads are the same as 351m/400 heads as far as mounting hole locations go. It is the 351M/400 block that is taller and raises the head further from the crank. This would be no problem with a longer belt, but the holes in the block are located the same with relation to the crank. So now the distance between the holes in the heads and the holes in the block is longer, and longer brackets are necessary.

Ford used the C2 power steering pump into the early 90s. If you're willing to find a machinist, you could easily have a power steering pulley made. 77 was the first year of the C2 I believe, I don't know if the older pulleys will fit or not.
