2.9 oil pump priming
How can I prime a 2.9 oil pump without 1. an old distributor shaft,(don't have one), 2. buying a 35$ tool that I'll only use once.
I have the engine on a stand and I want to do this before installation. I've read the technique of turning the engine, installed, without the coil attached to do it, but, I would prefer to get it primed up without that.
I don't think that I have a thin wall socket that will fit to attach it to a drill.
I guess I could install the distributor and turn the engine by hand, but that doesn't seem like I could get enough rpm to get the pump primed and oil into all the bearings and lifters that way.
The engine is a remaufactured and I have spent way to much time and $'s to have it go T.U. on the initiall start up.
Thanks in advance.

When I did mine, I installed the shaft from another distributor that I had and turned it with a 90* drill motor. I did it while the motor was on the stand and once again after it was installed.
If you lived closer, I would loan you mine. I'm in S. CA.
