wow that is a low first gear, think my 75 4x4 w/ 4.56:1 gears goes about 7 mph in 1st @ 6 grand

 

They have a couple of different ratios, as when I took apart a 76 NP 435 I discovered a couple of the gears inside had one less tooth than the corresponding gear in the NP 435 in my 78 F-150.

First is always in the 6.5:1 range, though, reverse is just a little less steep.

According to the shop manual my '65 has the following ratios:
1 6.68
2 3.34
3 1.68
4 1.00
R 8.2

So reverse is even lower than the granny low.
