Mustang parts wont work because its for a mass air system.
Did you swap the transfercase in? Because it should have a borg warner 1356 if you didn't.
Try a set of headers, or at least a set of bolt in shortys with a good Y pipe. Thats good for a few horses in the upper rpm range
One of the most noticable improvments in power that you can do is put an electric fan on the engine. But like the headers, its more of an increase in the upper rpm range, like 2800 and above. But with a 302 you probably spend a lot of time at 2800 rpm's anyways. You will really be suprised with how much power you actually notice with the electric fan when your driving at about 60 mph and above. Passing cars becomes a lot easier
A chip will also add horsepower, but its dollar per horse ratio doesn't make it worth it in my opinion. You will have to buy the 91 octane gas for it if you put a chip in it. Over time its a big price to pay for a 5 or 10 horsepower increase
This subject is a pretty popular one around here. A search with the advanced search option with topics such as "302 peformance mods" or "performance modifications" will pull up many threads where people asked the same question.
Might also want to look in the 302/351 engine forum.
This may be of some help, it's about a 351 but they're almost the same engine.
