Band replacement question

Band replacement question
I have a 85 f150 4x4 with a C6. It shifts nice and firm with no slippage. However when shifting under a hard load it squeels right before it shifts. I suspect a worn band. Is this correct? If so can you replace the band by dropping the pan and the valve body out first?

You cannot replace the band without disassembling the transmission.
Drop the pan, change the filter and perform a band adjustment, check the vacuum modulator for proper operation as it controls the shift points, not much else to do except major overhaul.
