IPR Injection Pressure Regulator Problem

I posted a week or so ago that the Injection Pressure Sensor on my truck was leaking oil up through the sensor itself. I replaced it with a new one, $131, and it did the same thing. Ford replaced it for free but before I put this 3rd one in I asked a local Diesel Mech about it and he is telling me that my IPR is letting to much pressure go through and its in turn blowing the seal on that sensor. Makes sense I guess.

Do any of you have any idea on this??? What other problems could this cause? Could it be anything else???? My truck runs smooth, cranks pretty easily on morns above 40, and runs smooth.

Also, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, is there anywhere I can get a IPR for cheaper than going back to Ford. They are wanting $270. NAPA says its a Dealer Only part. I haven't checked around at car quest or any others.

Thanks for any help!
Rob

Does anyone know what the Ford part number is?

Thanks for the website. I'll definitly need to make one of those wrenches.

FPR is different than a IPR. I think it fits somewhere on the fuel line itself. This part is down on the side of the HPOP. I did get Ford to come down to $225 plus tax. The rebuild kit is $100. According to the Ford dealership they have made some upgrades to the part since my year model. I guess I'm going to go ahead and spend the bones to get a new one.

I did read somewhere that the IPR does get a good bit of strain on it with the addition of a power chip/programmer. My diablo is starting to cost more than its worth...ok...naaa...I love them extra HP's!!!!

Come on...some of you tech guys have got to know more on this subject!?!?!

I don't know but it seems to me that a HP adder wouldn't add to much more strain on your HPOP...psi wise. More HP = more fuel=longer pulse width to injector. I believe those high performance big oil(HPOP) machines have the ability to flow more oil at a given PSI therefore providing those monster injectors
with a keg of beer instead of a 6 pack. I could be wrong.
