Gas Tank Question
Need some help with my '77 F-250. The truck I bought is actually a mutt. The nose and engine are from a '77, the cab is from a '79, and the bed is from a '78. The weird thing is, my gas tank is located behind the seat. They didn't still put it there in '79 did they? I am told by the guy I bought it from that person who did the restoration put the gas tank there to make the truck look older. I want to get rid of that tank, and put one under the bed. The current tank is only 15 gal. which makes it useless for more than a ride around town, plus I want to make room for some 10" subs. Does anyone know of a catalog that sells these tanks cheap? And how much of a project am I looking at? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Gas Tank Question
Depends on frame width, if you have the narrow, 26" frame, choices are limited, however if it's not, then any replacement tank from that year (and a few others) will work, side or rear mounted. As far as "hook-up", this should not be a problem, you will need to get straps, fill tube, the rubber one ($$$$), fill door and metal tube if not there, fuel line, if I were going to do this, I would just replace the entire line from tank to pump and work the filter in-line before the pump, rather than trying to splice (unless filter could go between existing and new lines)Lengthen wiring to/from sender, new sending unit. You could also incorporate a fuel valve/selector switch if you want to keep the in-cab tank as an aux. I think that's about all that would be needed, hopefully someone can add if I did miss something!

Yeah, were to look! JCwhitney has a lot of poly and steel replacements as well as extra capacity tanks listed. A few other companies such as areotank? not sure on spelling, do also make extra capacity and replacement tanks as well.
