differnt types of tranny's
what are the differnt types of aod's that ford made? I konw the E4OD is just a C6w/ OD but what is the tranny that everyone just calls "AOD"? just wondering

The AOD got electronic controls in '92 and became the AODE. It got a new wider ratio gearset and became the 4R70W in '93, but they built both AODE and 4R70W until the end of the '95 model year when the AODE ended. In 2004 it was upgraded and is now called 4R75E.
The E4OD was a completely different trans. It ran from '88 to '98 when it got quite a few upgrades and became the 4R100. The 4R100 ended at the end of the 2004 model year.
