Too true. Unless you are into racing or serious rock crawling its not that big of deal. I think its become a big deal for two reasons: 1) its all the rage right now just like 18 shocks on your rig was in the 80's, and 2) it makes guys with little motors feel better about their weight to horsepower ratio

IDK, I've always been a big fan of lighter is better for the hardcore rocks. I ride one of the lightest 4wd utility ATV's out there for the same exact reason, 9 times out of ten I crawl stuff that the big-boys can't make it up.
For the power plant in my truck, I'm building a windsor motor because I'll have more horsepower and as much torque as a stock EFI 460. It should be in the 320hp, 400lb-ft range, and will keep the rig much lighter than with a big-block. Plus, I'll have less money in this motor than I would in a comparable power output big-block.
