i have a holley 4160 600CFM when i put it to the floor it doesnt spray the gas in the bores it just pushes its way out around the diaphragm and leaks onto the manifold. i rebuilt the carb becuase it was haveing the same problems and i thought the diaphragm was just dry rotted (which it was) but now its like the passage is blocked.
its not a blocked passage i found out. i just pulled it and it is squrtin it into the bores and gushing out. i had a feeling that the screws were bottoming out and not getting a good seal on it so i added and extra washer and it stopped it from coming out the sides now it just dripps down the center where the arm gos in. so the only thing i can figure is that where the plate and the shaft go through the diaphragm is not seald right so i put silicon on it and im gonna try it out tomorrow. i have heard people say dont use silicon on carbs. but if this dont work then who cares? it would be time for a new carb. im not going to let a gas leak on the engine go becuase i dont want to see my truck going up in flames.
