I'm looking into turning my 79 F100 into a 79 lightning. Sounds crazy huh? Well, I really need to know what it would take to put a set of lightning rims on it. Would the bolt pattern fit, i doubt it, and so what kind of adapters would i need to fit them on. How much do they cost? Would they be safe? Thanks
The first generation Lightning 17" rims will have the same 5x5.5" "lug-centric" bolt pattern. The second generation Lightning 18" factory rim will not fit, as it has the 5x135 "hub-centric" bolt pattern. However, there are replica second generation wheels available (check the web and E-Bay) that have the right 5x5.5" pattern. Hope this helps!
