Interior light problem

I have a 97 Ranger that I am having interior doem light problems. When someone sits in the passenger seat the dome light stays on for several minutes before turning off. If it is only the driver light works fine.

Welcome to FTE.

I'd be willing to bet that the problem is a sticking switch in the passenger's side door. There's a thread on this in the "technical information" sticky at the top of the Ranger forum; it's a common problem, on both doors.

Try spraying WD-40 in the door latch area of the door and then open and shut the door a few times. That should fix it.

Welcome to the FTE forum rlbates

I agree with john112deere, sure sounds like it could be the pesky sticking dome light problem & many have had lasting success using WD-40, ect on the latch area, to free up the switch plunger, as he suggested.

By all means, visit the "Technical Info" thread, Ken has located atop this forum. It has all kinds of links to helpful info there.

Scroll down to the "Miscellaneous" heading at the bottom, to find the Door Ajar-Dome Light Wont Turn Off, link.

Let us know how it goes.
