Custom grille find at U-Pull-It, where's it from?

Custom grille find at U-Pull-It, where's it from?
Found a decent looking fiberglass grille at the local salvage yard and was wondering if anyone had an idea where it was from. There are two pics in my gallery.
A friend told me that it might be a factory "<st1:state><st1> California</st1></st1:state> grille ". He claims that at times car manufacturers would offer special options to those in <st1:state><st1>California</st1></st1:state>. I found it very doubtful, specifically because it doesn't match up to the factory grille mounts, I need to drill holes to get it to be secure yet.
Thought I'd ask, however. Maybe someone recognizes it and knows what company made it? It definitely looks like a professional job, looks similar to boat fiberglass on the back.
I plan on getting it painted black at school to match the bumpers and whatnot; I'll try to get some pictures up after that too.
