Key won't turn
I have an "88 F250, and after parking in the driveway today the key won't turn. I followed the suggestions in the alternate post for a Ranger to no avail, and it leads me to think that I need to replace the lock cyllinder. I've attempted jiggling the shift lever (automatic) while attempting to turn the key, and have also tried manipulating the key in the cyllinder while attempting to turn the mechanism. Let me know if I'm missing something. Thanks in advance!! www

It's probably jamed because of the steering wheel position, attempt to turn the steering wheel in the direction the wheels are pointed (taking pressure off the lock) at the same time turn the key. That should get you going

Thanks for the info/advice. The problem turned out to be a bad lock cylinder, where the tumbler cover had dislodged and jammed the mechanism. I had a local locksmith come out - he had to drill the old one out - and he replaced it with an OEM cylinder. I'm back on the road again. www
