4.0 A4ld ???

Does anyone know if I can pull the A4LD out of a 4.0 Explorer/ranger and just plug it right in to my '89 B2 with a 2 .9 and electronic T Case ... I ahve been looking for a solution to my the A4LD that is in it now but after wading thru 50-60 pages of posts was unable to find a good answer as what trannies I could use and the 4.0 A4LD seems to be the best so far ...thanx for any hepl and advice ...

I'd say yes. It would certainly bolt in, but you may have to do some minor wire splicing (not even sure of that).

I have heard the 4.0 A4s were a (little) bit stronger.

Iwent the opposite way, BII to '92 Explorer. Simple swap, no wiring issues.
