99 EB 5.4L 2WD Limited Slip -- Last week I begun to experience the "shutter" those on this thread are experiencing.
Here's the background, at about 90,000 miles changed the the tranny and rear differential oil. Everything seemed fine, until about 96,000 miles I begain to notice a fluid leak around the pinion yoke seal. At 101,000 miles I took the truck to the dealer to have the pinion yoke seal replaced along with spark plugs.
Now since getting the truck back last week, I'm having the shutter feeling/sound only on initial acceleration, it is more noticable when turning and accelerating. Like others it only last a second or two then goes away. Nothing on deceleration or at speed.
I called the dealer early this week to make sure they added the friction additive and the response I received was the differential oil they are using includes the additive????
You can definitely feel the shutter coming from rear of the vehicle. I'm headed back to the dealer today to have them check this out. I'm hoping when they installed the pinion yoke seal they didn't screw something up.
My '04 Explorer LS differential did that and Ford replaced the whole rear axle. They said that there have been some problems with the LS differentials. My '98 Expy has a LS and has no problems. Just a thought.
I have a 1999 EB awd 5.4. I have a bad shudder only when I take off. It does not shudder at any other speeds just take off. I have changed all the fluids in the truck with the correct specs. Any ideas what I should do next.
My 1981 Ford F100 with a manual 4 speed Overdrive on the floor does this in reverse. I have scratched my head for years and finally after changing out clutch 2 times and still having the problem, my latest theory is that I have glazed the flywheel and burned it where it meets up when I put it in reverse. My theory is to replace the flywheel to the bigger flywheel and put in the bigger clutch when it is time. Does that sound reasonable to you all? I have replaced all the clutch parts twice, and put in a new clutch lever and parts under the truck that attach to the clutch pedal. No Joy...Even had a transmission shop do it once because I thought they might see the reason. They reworked it 3 times and still that shudder in reverse.
