Leather Seats

I finally finished putting the '04 Altima leather seats in my Ranger. I had wanted to use Explorer seats because of the ease of installation, but every time I found a set in good shape with the right color, someone would outbid me. When the Nissan seats became available (Ebay), I went to a dealer with my notepad and tape measure and decided I could make them fit. I got the seats a lot cheaper than the Explorers were going for, and they were like new. After taking out the original seats and floor-mat, I placed the new seats in place and propped them to the right height and tilt with paperback books (Snows of Kilimanjaro was perfect for the right rear corner). I made an adapter for each of the two rear mounts and a single adapter for the two front mounts. I used 1/4" steel for the mounting plates and attached them to pieces of T-rail from an old garage door opener and put them together with small bolts. After much fitting, filing and pounding, I finally got all the holes to line up and welded everything up. I wired up the power with an inline fuse and connected the seatbelt wires so the seats are removable. I drove the truck for a couple of days and wasn't happy with the height of the seats so I took everything out and did it all over again 1 1/2" lower. Tomorrow I will be pulling them out one more time to install a new carpet set to replace the original mat. They look great, but considering the work involved, I recommend the Explorer option.
Now I have got to decide if I want an Explorer center console or do I want to build my own ..... decisions, decisions.

All my work is johare's fault. He put in Explorer seats and planted the idea in my head. Look to his gallery for the explorer install.
