`95 4.9 Blues
Hello , I own a 1995 F-150 with a 4.9 I6 Manual 5 speed, I want to swap out the 4.9 for a 5.8 from a lightning donor , I need to know if my tranny will bolt up to this engine or not. The lightning still has the auto trans in it but I think it would be more FUN WITH THE 5- SPEED................

4.9 has the same bolt pattern as any of the Windsor V8's. So yes, it will bolt up. The engine management will have to come from the donor. You will need a different flex plate or flywheel with the appropriate weight, your 4.9 is a balanced motor so it doesn't have a weight welded on there, the V8 needs one.
The problem comes in with the engine management though, the computer controls both motor and transmission in a truck with auto. If you slap a motor and computer in from a truck with manual into a truck with auto, the computer will not control the transmission and it will not work. There are standalone controllers for transmission in this case. What transmission do you have?
