my 89 f150s smog pump has crapped out. so far i've ordered two different pumps. one from napa and one from advance auto parts. i know both were the correct part number and "model". any one else have this problem? tomorrow i'll be ordering one from pep boys. someone please give me some input.
LOL sorry. i'm so exhausted. the pumps i've gotten from the two places don't fit. there is a ridge below one of thebolt holes thats in teh way. won't let me mount the pump. if i can't get one that matches exactly, or at least fits, i'l have to grind down this ridge.
Just for my own understanding. I am having problems with my '93 302. How do you know when your smog pump is shot if it is not siszed? Or is that to only way it's not working?
Your are putting a lot of effort into locating the correct pump. Does your state have emissions testing? If not, just remove the pump, one less thing to go wrong.
you can take off the hoses to test if air is coming out. my state does require an emissions test. and my truck needs all the help i can get. i talked to the ford stealership today. 400 bucks for a new pump from them!!! i talked to my mechanic today, he said he'd start by replacing the pully which looks slighly warped. so i'll start there and move on. any way
