the new explorer comes with 3 valve heads, and 292 h.p., i am curious as to if the heads will work on the 2005 4.6 motor. there is no reason that i can think of that would keep it from not working. any ideas ya'll??
If that motor only has 2 valves, then the cam is missing a lob for each cyclinder. Ford did make a 3v 4.6 in 2005. It makes 300 HP and sits in all the Mustang GTs, including a nice s/c Blue one in my garage.
I guess you mis understood me. Ford did indeed make the 4.6 with a 3 valve head in 2005. They put that engine in the Mustang GT, all Mustang GTs, so no I did not tweak the computer, Ford did at the factory.
ct, was a big improvement over the 2 valve heads? i would assume it was plz let me know, after my warranty is out i want 2 do a few mods to my 2005 scab 4.6 thanks
I have a 05 Mustang GT with a 4.6 3v that came with 3v heads from the factory. It is s/c(supercharged), blue and makes around 420 hp. I also have an 04 F150 with the 5.4 3v. It is not s/c but it is a scab and blue. Hope I am clear on this one.
