What was funny about it? The Snopes site debunks all or most of the so-called " '50s sayings".
Call me a crank, but I get irritated by people who forward emails with these stories or links and in 30 seconds you can find out the stories are all bunk.
I get really PO'd when people put in their 2 bits about how "this is really true..." etc.
Sorry, not to blast your post, but did you read the whole Snopes story?
www.snopes.com its a website which debunks or proves email / internet stories / hoaxes
lotsa people care, I know alot of people who recently sent me the "microsoft will pay you if you forward this email" peaple still believe this BS, hell, My best freind gave all his personal info to one of those fraud paypal emails
it was one thing (although still far fetched ) to get those kinda emails 10 years ago, but it's 2006 the internet is by no means new.
I just got another email about credit card fraud. Thinking it was bunk, I went to Snopes and they actually confirmed the scam reported in the email has been done.
As far as doubts about Snopes, go read their site.
As far as the first post, read it again. He posts about how this is all funny, and gives the link to Snopes with the story and the saying--but if your read the whole Snopes article, it is an article saying the "Funny Comments..." are bunk.
It would be just like the blowhard down at the bar starting one of his tall tales with the statement "This is all lies...", and reminding you at the end it's all lies.
Takes the fun out of it, but WHAT THE HECK IS THE POINT OF GETTING ALL NOSTALGIC AND SAYING 'THEM WAS THE GOOD OLD DAYS' IF IT AIN'T TRUE?
You'd think you was in a nursing home with that kind of thinking.....
