Replacing front seatbelt?
The front passenger-side lap/shoulder belt on my F150 just stopped working (retractor no longer retracting). Dealer said that the entire belt assembly has to be replaced, I'm wondering if this is something simple enough to do myself.
Truck is a 1998 F150 XLT, 3 door. Front seats are the 40/20/40. The belt in question has both anchors on the floor beside the seat.
The big problem is that the retractor is covered with a plastic shell (hunk of trim) that I can't see how to remove. That shell has what looks like three little black plastic screw covers in it (one on the side facing the rear, two on the side facing the interior) - they don't seem to want to poke, pry, unscrew, etc. out (I was a little gentle on them to be honest).
My suspicion is that if I can pop that cover off and maybe lift up the floor carpet that both ends of the belt are held down with two bolts that I can remove and replace...is that so? Any particular torque that they need to be tightened to? Or am I getting into something that it'd be better to let the dealer fix?
(I'm hoping that I can get the cover off and find that the belt just got twisted)
Thanks!

The cover over the retractor should just pull straight up and off, if I remember right.
After that there will be 3 Torx head bolts to remove. One on the retractor, one where the belt is held to the floor and the one on the pillar.
They are supposed to be torqued to 29 ft/lb.
