Cab Replacement

I'm thinking about buying a lightly rolled over 2002 F250 Super Cab. Pretty much all of the cab exterior panels are damaged and the driver's side pillar is bent, so I figure a cab swap is the way to go. I've got a couple of questions:

1. Will a Super Cab from any Super Duty truck ('99 or later F250 or 350) fit this '02?

2. I've read that lifting the cab is pretty straighforward, ie. undo six bolts to the frame and some wiring harnesses. Is this true? Does the engine/tranny have to come out to lift the cab?

Any advice from anyone else who has done this would be appreciated.

Its pretty easy dealers can do it in an hour and half. Nothing removed engine and trans stay put. Any year will work in that range but I would stay with same year and options if you could as wires would be your worst problem. Or I here they sell bondo in 55 gal drums LOL. Sounds like a fun progect.

Replacing the cab

Replacing the cab is not near as easy as people think! I have done it before it is a huge job. Do you think that you can just lift off the old cab with a few buddies, nope the front inner structure and cab are all attached and has to come off as one big heavy unit. The wiring is almost always different and you have to unhook just about everything under the hood radiator trans coolers, a/c condensor, vacum lines and a lot of other thing. Not to mention the cab you get might have different options ( like a work truck versus a xlt or lariat). Not to mention all the fun in having to swap a dash, more so if you have never done one before. I have pictures of the 2001 xcab psd 6 speed 4x4 that I fixed last year in my gallery and it was rolled over and had to have three new doors a new bed, hood, one fender, bumper and a roof cut. It was cheaper to fix the existing cab because there was no cowl damage and only one windshield post was down. I have less than $10,000 in the truck a year and a half ago, and i could still make very good money on it. Every truck i have owned in the last 10 years has been wrecked and rebuilt so don't be scared. I'm not trying to talk you out off fixing it just trying to prepare you for all the work that goes in to it.
