changing front end

I ahve a 1978 f-250 4x4 with a dana 60 front end. I need to change the gears to 4.10 but im not shure what to do. I got a new front but it has a different sterring setup, Mine has a square box that connects from the pitman arm and this one has a c shaped sterring linkage. Is there a way i can swap the new one in or do i have to tear out the diff (yuck!!)
I would appreciate any response because i need to get this beast running before the michigan winter sets in
