7.3 weird problem
hi im new to the forum and i have a question.
the truck is a 1990 f-250 5 speed 4x4 with a 7.3 diesel idi.
today i went to my feinds house about ten minutes away to pick up a ladder and it drove fine with no problems or symptoms of any problems.
on the way home the problem started happening
the problem is whenever i would step on the brake the oil pressure would drop and the engine light would go on then i would tap the accelorator and the oil pressure would jump back up to normal.
we let the truck sit for an hour and went to duplicate the problem and we couldnt get it to happen again
I think it is an electical problem
the truck supposedly has 100,000 miles on the engine
tommorrow i will go and get an analog oil pressure guage and install it
any suggestions would help
btw i checked the oil and it is fine

The dash oil pressure gauge is not to be trusted.
What the gauge says means nothing in relation to what kind of oil pressure you actually have.
Get a mechanical gauge and there is no question.
Also the stock temp gauge is not good either.
While we are at it I have never seen my amp gauge move in 20 years.
I put a tripple gauge pod on my dash with a volt meter, mechanical oil and water temp gauges. Now I know what is going on in the engine.
