Or, should I say reintroduce. I joined FTE sometime last year under the name of "Okie Kajun". Lost track of everything with the fall and holidays coming, but I am now refocusing my energy.
My truck is a 1960 Ford F100, 292 V8, 3spd. 109K. My pop bought the truck from the company he worked for in Oklahoma in 1964. I believe it was American Oil, there is writing on the passenger door that is starting to resurface after sitting all of these years. As soon as I drag it out I'll be able to see better and ask him the story.
This truck has a lot of memories for me as a child. Watched my dad try to teach my sister to drive in it. Ended up in the woods across the street, no damage. I remember pulling many a vehicle out of the ditch with this thing. The only time I ever remember it getting stuck, took 3 trucks to pull it out.
I remember the day I heard about my grandfather dying, I curled up on the step under the spare tire to hide and cry. It tugged on alot of trees in the yard where I grew up as we cleared 125ft pine trees. And many more memories, that I will share as I go through the rebuild starting soon.
I've posted a few pics where and how she has sat for the past 29yrs. But within 60 days, she'll be free. I need a bit of time to get my daily drivers in order, before taking on a project.
I have been sneaking around and reading and will I'm sure learn to rely on you all for help. Thanks for having a place I can turn to as I start this process.
I go by "Okie" Kajun and this is Ol' Gang Green.

Reason: left out year of purchase.
Hey Okie Kajun-
Wecome again. You have a great history with your '60 and it looks to be in good shape for its age. Hope you have a lot of fun with it. I imagine your Pop's eyes will begin to twinkle as he sees his old truck come back to life.
Welcome again, cool truck! Since you remember the truck since childhood, do you remember what color the motor was painted? Was it black block, heads and intake with red valve covers? -4speed
Welcome back to the board!!
Thats pretty neat to have so much history with your truck. I drove a 60 F100 custom cab short wide bed in high school. I have a soft spot for them too.

Very Funny! I've been following the motor color thread for a while. No I don't really remember what color. But I have another funny story to tell. I was asking my pop today if he remembered. He said he had no idea, well I decided to go look. From what I can see it does positively have red valve covers, I scraped some sludge off the engine and it looks like black paint, but won't be able to tell til I get her out and cleaned up.
Anyway, I went back over to my parents where the truck is. Dad hasn't been around the truck in probably 10 years. When I got back over there, he said, the valve covers look to be orange, well in the shadows I could see that. He said he thought it did have a black block, but he also said the valley pan under the intake was chrome. I told him, No it wasn't. Next thing I know he had a flashlight as it was just getting dark and said, "Come on". We walked down to the back, he popped the hood and you could see where he had taken gas to the valve cover, block, intake and valley pan. Couldn't really see as it was getting dark. But, to see him go down and mess with it tells me the time is right.
Will keep all informed! I still have to build a shop to work on it in, pouring the slab in about a month.
Thanks all.... and will being picking your brains soon...
welcome back, postponed projects are often the sweetest when they are finally done, don't be bashful about asking questions. We certainly aren't bashful about expressing our opinions.
That's a great story. I have a very similar situation. Just when we seem to be making some headway though, something always seems to side track us.
We gotta get these two trucks done before one of us kicks the bucket, or my son ends up with both projects. He's only 10 now, but I can see him in another 10 years wrenching away at what his Dad and Grandpa left behind.
