Question Valve Stem Seal Question

Not sure if this is the right place for this or not, but worth a try right. I bought a gasket replacement set for a 93 Ranger 3.0 V6. Everything was fine until I got to the valve stem seals. They are supposed to be marked (they aren't), 6 are brass and 6 are silver. Does anyone know which goes on the intake and which on the exhaust?
Thanks!!

those don't sound like seals but rather guides.

They are valve stem alright but there rubber caps with the bands around them to keep them tight and the ones i took off were marked but these new ones are not and i dont want to take a chance on screwing up any ideas.

Those valve stem seals are different heat temp--intake & exhaust. Depending on the gasket manufactuer, there should have been a note in there describing the difference. Sometimes they will have a "IN" or "Exh" marking on top of the seals, others ID them by the color of the band (in your case). One way you could find out, if your not sure, would be to pick up either a set of exhaust or intake seals[of the same gasket man.] & see what color those are.

With most new valve seals, it really doesn't matter which valves they're installed on. The older all rubber seals were made out of slightly different material for the exhaust side, though it didn't seem to matter much, they'd still get too hot, dry up, and then start to leak.
