How long do they last?

I have two 1998 4.0L SOHC 4x4 Explorers. Both have over 110K miles on them. On each, the starter, alternator, water pump, fuel pump, master cylinder, and power steering pump are original...never been changed and they are all working fine. I take one of my Explorers to remote deep sand beaches where I would not want it to suddenly let me down. So, I was wondering what others here had experienced for the average lifespan of these components on Explorers of my vintage.

Thanks in advance

JD

Hard to say. I'll give you my benchmark from my 1993 I bought new. 173Kmiles
Starter - original.

Alternator - replace 4 weeks ago due to noisy bearing. electrically still sound.

Water pump - replaced under warranty once. Lasted ~100K. Never leaked but was noisy. 70K+ on current one.

Brake Master - original

Clutch Master - on my 5th - if you have a stick but probably not in 1998.

Power steering pump - original

Have fun in the sand!

2000 w/ 95000:
All those components are still original. In fact, the only repairs I've needed are a few little light bulbs and one of the hood rods that hold it up went south.

I bought my XLT used but the water pump went at 161,000 and my front left brake went out on me at around 164,000. So far those have been the only problems but I just have a feeling some more are on their way.
