92 F250 Engine Code help

92 F250 Engine Code help

Hi All,

1st post, so please be gentle.

I've got a '92 F250 4x4 w/ 460 engine and E40D with 220K miles. Not sure if it's important, but it's also got a 4.10 rear, Banks exhaust & Intake air, tranny oil-temp gauge, Tach, and a TransCommand. Truck is primarily driven at altitude above 5,000 feet - we live in Denver.

Truck runs strong, no engine problems. When it's cold outside (<20F), the tranny shifts like ***** - very hard shift to 2nd (clunk!), slips out of 2nd (or 3rd) into neutral - then back in, and sometimes will trigger a check engine light. This only happens when the transmission is cold - below 140 on the gauge. Tranny works fine (well, for an E40D) when warm.

I pulled engine codes and got this: 11:11(koeo?), 33:56:67 (cm?)

I've searched the forum, but haven't found this. Any ideas?

Thanks much for any pointers. You folks are great - I've been lurking around here for about 6 months and have fixed several problems from threads on this forum.

your truck is not maf (mass air) btw, and the second set of codes is indeed CM.

33 - egr valve opening not detected
56 - TOT sensor output is greater than Self-Test maximum value of 4.8 volts.
67 - Neutral safety circuit failure

the 33 and 56 could be vacuum related. I'd at least start there.
I'm not sure on the 67

Did you remember to push the overdrive cancel button during the engine running test?

I've not done the KOER tests yet. Should I check them before troubleshooting the other codes?

I'm sorry I goofed. Those were CM codes not KOER codes. I would try the KOER test though, because some of the CM codes may be from older problems.

Hi again,

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. I pulled the codes, pulled the battery for 15 minutes, reconnected and went for a ride. Got the CEL after about 45 minutes of city driving. Turned off the truck at the store. Got back in and went home. CEL had reset. No CEL on the way home. Pulled the codes when I got home. Same deal. 11:11 / 33:56:67. I haven't reset the codes and haven't seen the CEL since.
