Where do the short bed reg cabs come from?

Is there a company that is choping the frames on reg cabs to fit a short bed? Just curious this came up on a different forum. There are pictures of these trucks.

I've seen one in DieselPower magazine that was a custom. It had been slammed and had some engine work done (of course).

Captain Ahab- they are awesome for plowing! We have a 90' GMC 2500 shortbox regular cab. I believe that one is stock, however I haven't really gotten a good look under it. Everytime I do the truck looses 30 pounds in rust, usually on my face! lol

I guess it comes down to what you do with the truck. I tow nothing but go offroading so a long box would be nothing but a hassle

I always had Reg Cab short bed , Horse power to weight ratio for one , Never needed an 8' bed , they don`t need 8" of lift and 39`s to look tall being they are not 9 miles long . But here I sit with an 8' reg cab SD

Ahab- I agree with you that they do look better. It's a fact they can haul more and can tow better. But I know that they kick *** for plowing because of the turning radius.

This is true, but for snow plowing the shorter the truck the tighter the turning radius the easier it is to manuver. I would snap up a reg short bed to replace my 85 Bronco plow truck in a heartbeat.

I thought a short bed would work out for me when i bought my truck. boy was that a mistake. you cant haul crap in these things. you put a tool box in the back and your just lost a ton of space. never again will i own another automatic diesel with a short bed.
