Generic Ford Oil Filter

I have always used MotorCraft filters in all of my vehicles. I've never heard or read anything bad about them, but the filter that was equipped with the new Freestyle was SCARY. I haven't been able to find another one like it over the counter. Maybe Ford puts the plain filter on to check if a new car owner has changed the oil. If an owner brings a vehicle in with 10,000 mi. and has a warranty claim, the plain filter would be a giveaway. Maybe.

I have to say wix makes a very good filter. A parts store here has a FRAM, WIX, MOTORCRAFT, and "CHEAPO" on the counter which are cut a part as listed. the ORANGE one which I have trusted for years is all cardboard in side no metal except the valve. The wix has a real sping not a cheap bent metal piece and the filter element is twice that of the others. I will not buy anything else from now on.
