hello everyone, this is my first attempt on a site like this, but here is my question. I have 1992 f150 with 1356 borg warner electric shift t-case. My truck got stuck in 4wd low. I put re man motor on and it shifts fine, except it would pop out of 4 hi. I then heard about oil pump wearing through case and since it has 135,000+ miles on it, i pulled the t-case, put new bearings, seals and new chain in... and a used clutch, just in case mine was bad (had a crack in epoxy). All this to do the exact same thing. So i have pushed little button with plugs unplugged and light blinks, plugs both in doesn't blink. Shifts fine into 2 hi and 4 low, but 4 high clutch only gets 12v for 2 seconds and then gone... where is the latch? I think this clutch needs power the entire time in 4 hi. ( i cut brown wire and hot wired, bada bing, worked just fine, and i put her to the test. So do i have a limit switch problem on the shift motor, i did clean off the excess grease on worm wheel and wiped off finger contacts all to no avail. All fuses in fuse box (both that i could find) appear to be working. Kennedy transmission, chap, felt the t-case should never lose 2 wheel when shifted into 4 hi, but i disagree. Just about at witts end, any ideas? Thanks Josh
This sounds like the same problem I'm having with a 1993 F150 5.0 4x4 with AOD. When I push the dash button I hear it clicking from the pass kick panel. I think it goes into 4x4 , the light next to the 4x4 button comes on but the "4x4" light on the dash doesn't. It feels like it's in 4x4. A couple of minutes later I have nothing, like it's in neutral, no forward or reverse. I push the 4x4 button on the dash put the shifter in drive and then have "gears". I have checked the connections, replaced the "computer" in the kick panel and replaced the 4x4 actuator motor. Is there something else other than the wiring? Anyone have something similar ? I'm about ready to go with a manual transfer case.
