Finally got results!
After much complaining and some whining to my mech. and researching on this site I finally resolved the problem. I was able to diagnose the vibration/noise that was driving me crazy and could not be pinpointed by my auto shop. I noticed it for quite some time esp. on the way to work on cold mornings. I suppose that's why my mech. could not find the problem despite his keeping the truck and driving it for a few days. I dropped it off just before Christmas and told them what I thought was wrong. Possibly vibration damper or drive shaft, even though I could not see any thing wrong with either and prying and pulling on either showed no extensive wear, but the week before Christmas when I take my 4 girls, grown now and with a couple of son in laws, on our Christmas light viewing "hay ride" in the back of my truck the vibes got real bad, it was very cold that night. I had my mech. pull the drive shaft and they found the problem, it was reconditioned and now no vibes no noise. Now if I could just get the MPG up above 12. Later ERC
