Truck Update

I know some of you guys have been following my buildup of my truck on here, so I thought I'd give a quick update.

I have the steering all in, minus the power steering pump. Its going to be manual steering until I get a 60 front (Fishy is giving me one ) then I will do crossover on it.

I end up running all new brake lines in the pickup except for the rear axle. I am going to have to run to town tomorrow to get some more parts, so I will pick up enuf brake lines and do the rear axle lines tomorrow as well.

I designed some bumpers that one of my buddies is starting for me, then in a few days I will get them from him and I will add my finishing touches to them.

I bought a set of 4" Pro Comp rear springs (3" wide) that I am going to put on the front of my truck. I am eliminating the drop hangers I have on there now and have came up with a totally different front hanger set-up that I will start fabbing up tomorrow (if my leafs show up).

The rear shackle flip is hitting the under-side of my box. I am putting a 1/2" body lift under my box to fix this problem. Also my shackle angle has improved alot over the last few months with the weight of the pickup box sitting on it too .

I started to design my custom dash - If ANYONE has pics of a custom dash, post pics up. I will be running Auto Meter gauges without a speedo. Thomsen get on here and post up!

My 390 isn't running very well at the moment. I just got it running the other day. It needs a good tune-up until my 410 is completed for the truck.

I also need to weld my spider gears in the rear axle yet, if anyone has pics of this or any tips, feel free to post up. I have welded them on a demo-derby car before, but this needs to be done right as it will see the street.

Ran into a d-shaft problem for the rear tonite. Got the tube cut-down and I was going to put new u-joints in my rear yoke I discovered that the previous owner of the donor truck had torched a u-joint out of it at one time leaving the "ear" about 1/16" thick. So its JUNK. Need to find a new one, anyone have any ideas of where to get one at QUICK?

I loaned out my camera to a buddy so I don't have any updated pics until he brings it back or when my brother gets home from California.

Sorry for the long post. Just getting kind of excited to get this thing running!

Got my new rear yoke today ($96 OUCH). Should have the truck able to drive tomorrow. Still missing my new leaf springs, if there is a troll on here from National Tire and Wheel, HURRY UP AND SEND THEM!

Updated Stuff

Here are some updated pics of my junk.

Steering box in. Front lines in - but not done yet.

Well the truck officially drives. Don't have the front d-shaft done yet, waiting to cut that down till I get my front springs put on. Got the truck temporarily delayed in some deep snow, found the rev limiter, rocked it back an forth and got her loose. Throws some serious mud/snow/corn stalks with those tires.

I've got a dash gallery if you're looking for some ideas on mounting the Autometer junk.

It's looking good.

Ivan - Your gallery looks good on the dash might hafta steal a few ideas from you for my buildup.

Kubota - I pulled the box off because I'm planning on painting the truck sometime later this week, and I didn't feel like bolting it down for the test drive and having to unbolt it right after I was done playing. Sure wish it woulda been on there tho, kinda hard to get the rear end behind ya with no weight on it.

My new rear leaf springs finally showed up tonite. Tomorrow I'm going to re-do my front hangers and bolt 'em up. Also planning on bolting on the box and bring home my forklift and see what kinda flex the front has compared to the stock springs, and to see if I need to trim my rear fenders.

snap some pics of those new (rear) front springs before you slap them on, and get some good ones of them under the weight of the truck, if you don tmind

it is always nice to see a plan coming together.. You are about at the same point I am, except I have the front driveshaft working, and you have 36s..

Sure thing kubota.

Bremen - I'm hoping that once I put these new springs on I will have a front d-shaft thw works. My old front d-shaft is about an inch too long with the setup now. Hopefully this will fix it!
